The Musee de la Mode et du Textile is a museum of fashion and textiles located in the Louvre in the 1st arrondissement, 107, rue de Rivoli, Paris, France. It is part of Les Arts Decoratifs and open daily except Mondays; an admission fee is charged.

The museum dates to 1905 when the Musee des Arts Decoratifs started collections of textiles including silks, embroidery, printed cotton, costumes, lace, and tapestry. In 1948 a parallel collection of fashion was inaugurated by the Union Française des Arts du Costume on the initiative of the costume historian François Boucher. In 1981 the two collections merged, and in 1986 opened to the public in the Louvre.

Today the museum occupies 9,000 square meters with about 6,000 items on display at any time, drawn from its collections of over 81,000 works representing the history of costume from the Regency period to the present, and textiles from the 7th century onwards, including about 16,000 costumes, 35,000 fashion accessories, and 30,000 textiles, as well as examples of interior design, furniture, objets d’arts, wallpaper, tapestry, ceramic art, glassware, and toys from the Middle Ages to the present. It also include works of great French fashion designers including Azzedine Alaia, Pierre Balmain, Andre Courriges, Christian Dior, Christian Lacroix, Jeanne Lanvin, Paul Poiret, Paco Rabanne, Yves Saint Laurent, Elsa Schiaparelli, and Madeleine Vionnet, and textile designs by Sonia Delaunay, Raoul Dufy, etc. (Text Source : Wikipedia, the Free Encyclopedia)
