Opened in 1986, the Halle Saint Pierre is a cultural center located at the foot of Montmartre’s hillock. It was built in 1868 by a disciple of the French architect Baltard and was first used as a market. In its new function the Halle Saint Pierre today is a welcoming and lively cultural place housing a Museum of Naïve Art (the Max Fourny Collection) and a series of temporary shows dedicated to outsider, naive, folk and “raw” art (art brut). Gathered by Mrs and Mr Fourny, the collection includes over 500 paintings and 80 sculptures. Every technique is represented from traditional to glass painting.
